Africa Under Canvas
The romance of a SAFARI under canvas conjures up images of the legendary expeditions of the turn of the century, of illustrious hunters and the allure of bold temptresses.
Classic vs. Contemporary
Today’s Tented Camps offer up a myriad of choices from a more traditional colonial style harking back to the golden era of travel, to more contemporary camps with a more minimalist style. Others are infused with a tribal style that personifies the rich cultural heritage of Africa. An authentic African Tented Camp with billowing folds of creamy canvas wafting against a backdrop of golden flecked plains, cobalt skies and lonesome trees offers the perfect entrance into the Africa of our dreams. Today’s camps offer all the comforts and style of a bygone era with the “can’t live without” amenities of today. Always close to the action, these camps offer a tranquil refuge from the adventure of being on Safari every day.
Amazing Bush Cuisine
Despite the obvious fact that you are in the middle of nowhere you will be pleasantly surprised at the sumptuous feasts prepared for you! Gone are the days of stodgy meat pies, dried out roasts and puddings with horrid names like Spotted Dick and Roly Poly. The new world has arrived and the cuisine is superb. The influences of India, Malaysia and the Arabic Spice Trade pepper the palate with tempting and sophisticated flavors. Nowadays African dining offers up something for everyone, from refreshingly simple to imaginatively sophisticated.

TRUE CAMP KITCHEN
African bush cooks have a very real love of food. They hone their skills over hot bush fires, packing breads and cakes into old ammunition boxes, whipping up fluffy soufflés without a care in the world. They love absolutely everything about it …well, except for the naughty monkeys who try to wreak havoc in their kitchens!
