UNCHARTED CLIENTS:
Jim & Jamie Dutcher
Living with Wolves

Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and cinematographer Jim Dutcher began his early adventures with a camera, producing documentary films in the 1960's. Jim’s intense personal involvement with the details of his subjects’ lives and his eye for the beauty of the natural world have placed his work in a category all its own. Jim and his wife Jamie have won three Emmys. Together, the Dutchers founded the nonprofit organization Living with Wolves in 2006, seeking to reestablish the wolf in its rightful place as a part of the ecosystem. Please visit

Three people whose lives are inextricably linked to wildlife, and in particular wolves and african wild dogs, met on an Uncharted Safari around 11 years ago in a private tented camp smack bang in the middle of the Serengeti and a lifelong friendship began!

Of Wolves & African Wild Dogs
Jim and Jamie Dutcher are Emmy Award winning filmmakers, authors, photographers and ardent wolf conservationists. It is through their films, books, and numerous events and media appearances that the Dutchers have inadvertently become lightning rods for one of the most hotly debated environmental issues in North America. Richard Knocker, a wickedly funny Safari Guide, is a notable photographer and blogger whose daily ‘commute’ might take him on a game drive through hundreds of thousands of migrating animals, or walking past a herd of elephants by a river. Now that’s what we call a charmed existence!  Together they have explored Tanzania, exploring Richards' vast stomping grounds in search of the ever elusive African Wild Dog (Lycaon Pictus). Jim and Jamie’s time spent living with a family of wolves (Canus Lupus) for nearly three years in a tented camp in Northern Idaho have given them tremendous insight into the world of canines. Their friendship has spanned the globe from the Serengeti to Idaho  - here's to the next 10 years!

RICHARD KNOCKER
UNCHARTED SAFARI GUIDE
Richard Knocker has never not been 'on safari', at least it seems that way! Born and raised in Kenya, the only time he was off the continent was when he taught English at a school in Turkey.  Going on safari with Richard is always a real privilege, not least of which because of his sense of humour, sparkling wit and storytelling ability (he has also often been remarked on as "a better looking John Cleese"). He is 110% passionate about the bush and utterly committed to everything in it. He, like all our guides, is one of the greatest ambassadors for wildlife, culture and conservation.  - Call us about a Private Guided Safari focusing on Conservation.
