Stanley's Camp
8 Classic Safari Tents

Stanley's is a small luxury camp consisting of 8 classic styled safari tents raised on wooden decking. The delicately appointed tents exude classic Africa - handcrafted beds dressed with the finest linen, antique furniture individually selected and oriental carpets that transport you to early 19th century Africa. Each unit offers en-suite facilities, a private balcony and is equipped with a hairdryer, ceiling fan and in-room safe. The camp also provides a torch as well as complimentary mosquito repellant & toiletries. Hammocks and Morris chairs on the decks are perfect for relaxation in the African sunshine. Electricity is supplied by a combination of silent packed generator and battery system allowing 24-hour power supply. The main building is raised on decking and offers extensive views over the surrounding floodplains. Stanley's is carefully blended into the existing tree line, its main support being a large sausage tree.

Year Round

Botswana is an all-year-round wildlife destination. However, there are certain seasonal concerns of which groups with special interests should take note: The best birding months are November - March, when the delta is brimming with migratory birds. The best botanical months are December - May, when the vegetation is lush and green and most plants are in flower. Botswana's popularity as a destination is such that seasonal differences are not as marked as in other African destinations. Traditionally, however, peak season is from July to October and middle season is from May to June. Note that availability is at a premium during these seasons so you will need to book well in advance. November to April is a less popular time for travel to Botswana. This is the wet season, and due to the abundance of water, it is less certain that one will see wildlife at perennial water holes. Also, the heavy rains can make dirt roads impassable.

Game Walks, Day and Night Game Drives, Mokoro Excursions & Wildlife Tracking.

Stanley's Camp offers some of the best game viewing in the Okavango, including the rare and elusive wild dog. The unique and educational experience with a group of semi- habituated African elephants is available at Stanley's. Spend a day walking with the elephants and observing them up close in their natural environment. Other activities available at Stanley's Camp include serene mokoro canoe excursions (Subject to water levels), exclusive bush dinners, and game drives in customised, open 4 x 4 vehicles - including the rare opportunity of night drives. Due to the fact that Stanley's Camp is in a private concession, guests also have the exclusive option of walking safaris with an armed professional guide.
Local Info

Chief's Island, flanked by the Boro and Santantadibe rivers, is separated from dryland Moremi by permanent floodplains. Roughly 1,000 square kilometers in size, it is the largest expanse of solid ground within the Okavango Delta, and it is thought to have been formed by tectonic uplift. The island was originally the principal hunting ground of Chief Moremi, but it is now part of the game reserve that bears his name.

This luxury camp is situated on a 260,000 acre private concession, bordering the southern section of the famous Moremi Game Reserve, thus affording guests absolute exclusivity.
Set in an amphitheatre of Ebony and Sausage Trees on the southern tip of Chief's Island, in 260,000 acres of untamed African bush, Stanley's Camp accommodates only 16 visitors. Bordering the southern section of the famous Moremi Game Reserve this private concession is located by definition in seasonal delta. The flood waters arrive in June, though there is often navigable water all year round due to the presence of the Mboro River. The beautifully-appointed tents evoke an atmosphere of classic Africa - with hand-crafted beds, antique furniture and oriental carpets combining to create surroundings of colonial-era luxury.
