Rwanda
Best Time to Visit: Dec to March +
June to October
Rwanda is a country of unimaginable beauty. It is tucked into East/Central Africa and shares its borders with the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the east, Uganda to its north, Burundi to the south and Tanzania to the east.
It is called "Le Pays des Milles Collines" - the land of a thousand hills. It is a lush country of endless mountains and jaw-dropping scenery. The jewel of Rwanda's crown is its cache of rare mountain gorillas which inhabit the dense bamboo and jungle on the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes in Parc National Des Volcans in Northwestern Rwanda.

But there is more to Rwanda than an audience with these gentle giants. The shores of Lake Kivu, one of the great lakes of Africa, offer jutting peninsulas, an archipelago of islands and some of the best inland beaches on the continent. Deep in the Southwest, Parc National Nyungwe Forest, the largest mountain forest remaining in East Africa, is home to colorful orchids, giant lobelia, thirteen species of primate, and a unique and rare menagerie of birds and insects. And Kigali, Rwanda’s capital is safe and sophisticated.
