Kensington Place
Luxury Rooms

Rooms are plain yet stylish, and a variety of interiors create a unique feel for each room. Rooms are adorned with rich, decadent fabrics and artwork created by predominantly South African artists. The overall style is contemporary with an eclectic African feel. All but one room contain private terraces from which you can enjoy the view of the valley below. The rooms come with many extras such as underfloor heating, DVD players and spa treatments on request. Bathrooms are a sensuous experience, with features such as custom made sunken baths, twin showers, and enormous bath sheets to wrap up in afterwards. A glass wall from one bathroom even overlooks a private outdoor tropical garden and fishpond. The small dining room is elegant and functional, and contains a small bar area where guests can enjoy a late night whiskey after a day's sightseeing. As well as breakfast, a chef is on duty to prepare gourmet lunch and dinner five days a week. Food prepared at Kensington Place is fresh and simple with enticing flavours. These meals can also be enjoyed in the dining room or in the privacy of your suite or terrace. There is 24 hour bar room service for those not wishing to venture as far as the dining room.
Cape Town, South Africa

Year Round

South Africa is a year-round destination, and the best time to visit depends on your priorities. Safaris are best in the winter months (May to August). The grass is lowest, so game viewing is easier, and the temperatures are mild (maximum 20–23C). There is very little winter rainfall in the north. Namaqualand, in the Western and Northern Cape Provinces, becomes a floral phenomenon in spring (mid-August to mid-October), when the desert-like terrain is transformed into a carpet of flowers, drawing thousands of visitors. The best season for the beach is summer (November to mid-March). The southern regions are summer destinations, with low summer rainfall. Temperatures reach 28-30C or higher on truly beautiful days. The warm waters of the east coast make for almost year-round swimming. South Africans tend to take their annual holidays in summer, causing tourist destinations to be overcrowded from mid-December to late January, as well as during the other school holidays.

Cape Town is the oldest and most beautiful city in South Africa and one of the top destinations in the world. Although Cape Town is better known for stunning beaches and beautiful landscapes, the regions around Cape Town offer a range of activities and attractions, like wildlife safaris in the Cedarberg Mountains, wine tasting in the glorious Winelands, expeditions to see thousand-year-old San rock art and adventure activities such as sandboarding, surfing, bungee jumping, kloofing, abseiling and much more. South Africa's most beautiful city, Cape Town, owes much to its stunning natural attractions - from the majestic Table Mountain to the huge, wide Atlantic Ocean. One of the country's biggest attractions, the V & A Waterfront is also situated in the city and is a scenic shopping and entertainment centre. In a beautiful city like Cape Town, with its temperate climate and lovely natural attractions, there is always so much to do. Many of these activities make excellent day trips, which we can organise for you.

Sandboarding - There is nothing quite like whizzing down a huge dune on a board, it's like being a child all over again! Sandboarding is easy to learn and an incredible lot of fun. Two sandboarding locations are between 45 minutes and an hour-and-a-half's driving out of Cape Town.

Surfing - Cape Town is known internationally as a top surfing destination. There are various beaches all around the city with varying appeal to the surfers in the know. It is also possible to learn how to surf in one of our exciting day trips.

Mountain biking - There are many different mountain biking trails and opportunities in Cape Town. From day trips around Tokai Forest, to scenic cycle rides in the reserve at Cape Point. It is one of the best ways to see the stunning natural beauty.

Kitesurging - One of the most fun ways to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean - if you are not a professional, take one of our kitesurging lessons where we show you the ropes.

Hiking - The Cape Town surrounds offer numerous opportunities for those interested in hikes. There are over 100 ways of hiking up Table Mountain for instance and many more in the outskirts of the city.

Cultural Excursions - Are you interested in learning more about the various cultures and traditional communities of Cape Town? We will take you on one of our townships tours to the city's various vibrant suburbs and settlements.

Kensington Place is on the slopes of Table Mountain. The city, its harbour and the surrounding mountains are all visible from each private terrace. Lush quiet gardens and an intimate pool surround the property. Set in Higgovale, one of Cape Towns most prestigious residential areas, Kensington Place is a sophisticated and tranquil hideaway.
Kensington Place sets the benchmark for small, intimate boutique hotels - it is sexy, minimalist and stylish. We certainly recommend this as a destination for guests who want seclusion and privacy while not compromising on luxury and service. The interior is modern and chic, yet subtle enough not to overpower. Outside is a wooden deck surrounded by silky, muted curtains with oversized cushions scattered on wicker lounge chairs. The deck extends around the pool which is just big enough to cool off in. In the summer this area is decorated with candles, and the setting is romantic enough to have been the scene of more than a few marriage proposals! The hotel offers free internet access for guests and free entrance to the Virgin Active Gym in Green Point.
