The Bavarian Chalets
Secluded but sociable, opulent yet casual, the Bavarian Chalets are a magical retreat that brings you a taste of the Bavarian Alps in the American Southwest. Located at 10,200 feet at the foot of Kachina Peak and the base of Taos Ski Valley's lift #4, the Bavarian Chalets are designed for complete high-alpine comfort with ski-in/ski-out access as well as the amenities of the adjacent Bavarian Lodge & Restaurant.
Designed for complete high-alpine comfort, mudrooms anticipate families with children, long hikes into the wilderness, gear storage and ski storage. Beginning in the mud room, galvanized steel panels and baseboards are a feature throughout. A refined rusticity permeates the whole. Supremely functional, each unit includes three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a powder room. Owner's storage is accommodated discretely under the entry window seat, and generously on the Owner's level - the fully divisible third floor suite.
These luxury chalets were an Interior Design Magazine "Best of the Year Finalist." They incorporate locally sourced materials, such as dead-standing timbers and locally inspired themes. The "feature wall" in the living room, timber framing and stainless steel firebox cladding all recall the valley's mining tradition. Artwork is comprised of old Taos ski advertisements, black and white wilderness photography and the like. Organic textures, forms and materials complete what is a deeply generous, multi-faceted design that redefines contemporary mountain hospitality. The Bavarian Lodge was also named among the "Best Romantic Getaways" in 2010 by Travel & Leisure Magazine.
